I was born on September 17, 1983 in a Texarkana, Tx hospital with a heart murmur which, at the time, was very rare among infants. One out of fifty to be exact. A few years later, I entered in to the Little Rock Children hospital to have the hole in my heart surgically closed because the murmur was causing aneurysm. I'm lucky to be alive.
I grew up in a small Texan town called Maud until I was about nine years old when my parents divorced after twelve years of marriage. My father stayed in Maud and my mother, younger brother and I moved one town over named Redwater. My father remarried about a year later. I didn't have the best childhood, before and after the divorce, and my teen years weren't any better. I spent most of my young adult life being passed back and forth between my parents. Other than that I spent alot of my time tending to family responsibilities and school which didn't leave a lot of time for anything else, such as friends, boyfriends, going to the movies, parties, etc. In high school, writing became more of my friend than anyone else. Wrote all the time with the help of friends on occasion. I graduated in 2002. Not the worst in my class but also not the best.
As of the last few years, I've been working hard on my writing. Thanks to several online writing communities to which I am a member of as well as finished a writing course through Long Ridge Writers Group in 2008, I've had a chance to really develop my writing resulting in publication. I want take this time to thank all my pals at Authors By Design and Absolute Write for all the help.
My writing career began the day I found out I won 6th place in the Culture Arts contest sponsored by the PTA in the fourth grade. After that I continued to write short stories for myself. In fifth grade, I was one of ten chosen winners in a DARE essay contest. I received metal along with other promotional gear. I won 6th place at UIL in the Ready Writing category when I was in the 8th grade. In high school, I continued to write but didn't really enter in any contests or anything. I mostly wrote short stories for my friends, upon their request, and myself. In 2008, I completed the Basics of Writing course provided by Long Ridge Writers Group.
As of right now, I have written over 30 short stories and 2 poems. Two of my short stories have won small website sponsored writing contests. Several short stories and poem has appeared in print and online magazines/anthologies. I also maintained several blogs: Ghost Stories, SOUTHern WRITEmares and Sinister Tales (Nano blog).
